DESCRIPTION

Holtek offers the development platform Smoke Detector Workshop. You can configure multiple parameters in the platform, including clock, ADC, GPIO, AFE, USIM, communication interfaces, Timer, and so on. The workshop can help evaluate the standby power consumption, and generate program codes.

Operating Mode

1. Power supply
3V~5V DC, two AA batteries are recommended.
The development board has been calibrated: the LED blinks once and the buzzer beeps once after powering on.
The development board has NOT been calibrated: the red LED turns on after powering on.

2. Calibration mode (the product has been calibrated at factory)
Short connect BD to GND and power on under the smoke-free environment to enter calibration mode.
In calibration mode, the red LED blinks once per second and last for 4 seconds. It enters standby mode when the calibration is successful. Otherwise, the red LED turns on.

Smoke detectors need to be calibrated according to the operating environment.

3. Standby mode
It wakes up to detect smoke once every 8 seconds, and the red LED blinks once every 40 seconds. The rest of the time, it is in sleep mode.

4. Low voltage mode
In standby mode, if the voltage drops below 2.7V, it enters low-voltage mode.
The red LED blinks once and the buzzer beeps once every 40 seconds in the low-voltage mode.

5. Warning mode
Once smoke concentration reaches half of the alarm threshold value, it enters warning mode and detects smoke every second.

6. Alarm mode
If the smoke concentration exceeds the alarm threshold value, it enters alarm mode.
The buzzer beeps three times and pauses for one second and keeps circling until it exits alarm mode.

7. Self-check mode
In standby mode, you can press the TEST button to simulate alarm mode one time.
The buzzer beeps 3 times after pressing the button.

8. Fault mode
If the IR tube is open or short-circuited, it enters fault mode.
The red LED blinks twice and the buzzer beeps twice every 40 seconds.

9. Mute mode
In alarm mode, you can press the button to enter mute mode.
The mute time is adjustable (default 90 seconds).

If it exits alarm mode during the mute period, it remains in mute mode when it enters alarm mode again.

HARDWARE OVERVIEW
PROGRAMMING
GETTING STARTED
  1. Download the Smoke Detector Workshop software on Holtek's website.
Select the MCU you used to create a new project.
  2. You can set six categories of parameters on the workshop.
  3. The workshop provides the power consumption evaluation function to help you evaluate the standby power consumption after you complete the settings (for reference).
  4. Download the project program file (.sdw) from the workshop and open the HT-IDE3000 software to recompile and generate a .MTP file.
Use an e-Link with HOPE3000 for e-Link software to program the codes to the MCU on the development board.
