The product is a 2-channel TDS water quality detection module that comes with two TDS probes, the TDS-37. With a TDS measurement range of 0~5000 ppm, it offers a wider range compared to similar products in the market. You can simultaneously monitor the TDS and temperature of two sinks with the two probes. It is suitable for applications of water quality detectors, water purifiers, and so on.
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) is a measure of the combined total of organic and inorganic substances contained in water. It can be used to measure water purity. A higher TDS value indicates greater dissolved substances in the water (lower water purity).
The unit of TDS measurement is ppm or milligrams per liter (mg/L).
In many consumer products, the TDS value is calculated by measuring the conductivity of water (in uS/cm), which is roughly 1 ppm TDS = 2uS/cm. Using parallel cylindrical electrodes with fixed distance as the measuring probe, the probe is placed in water and a voltage is applied between the two electrodes to measure the conductivity.
Factors affecting the accuracy of TDS measurement include water temperature, flow rate, etc. In general, the standard measurement temperature is 25°C. For each 1°C increment, the TDS value increases by about 2%. When measuring TDS, the water temperature is usually measured together for temperature compensation.
Calibration
The product has been calibrated in the factory. To re-calibrate the product, it is necessary to prepare a cup of water, a bottle of TDS calibration solution, and a thermometer and use them to calibrate the conductivity and temperature.
Please note that the two TDS probes which come with the product are specified for Channel 1 and Channel 2 (indicated by yellow labels). You need to use the corresponding TDS probe for the respective channel.
