The product is a RF receiver module with a 315MHz frequency band (supports 290MHz~349MHz). It has built-in the Sub-1GHz RF receiver, BC2502C, and supports I2C communication interface. The product is suitable for applications of ceiling fans with light, clothes airers, wireless switches, wireless doorbells, and so on.
The BM2502-6x-2 series offers three operation modes: Deep sleep mode, RX mode, and Configuration mode.
It automatically enters deep sleep mode after powering on. In deep sleep mode, the power consumption is only 0.5μA. Users can control the DO/SDA and SD/SCL pins to enter RX mode or configuration mode.
RX mode
RX mode can be divided into Auto RX mode or Sniff RX mode.
Auto RX mode Connect the SD/SCL pin to GND and then power on the module to enter Auto RX mode. The module automatically receives RF signals transmitted from the antenna and outputs the data to the DO / SDA pin after demodulating.
To exit Auto RX mode, just power off the module.
Sniff RX mode Connect the module’s SD/SCL pins to the MCU to control the voltage level, and use the voltage level to determine whether the module enters the Sniff RX mode.
⬥ When SD/SCL pin is high (powering on the module): enter Deep Sleep mode
⬥ When SD/SCL pin is low: enter Sniff RX mode
Please be informed that Sniff RX mode is not recommended for a frequency of 5ksps or lower.
Configuration mode
In configuration mode, the SD/SCL and DO/SDA pins are used as I2C interface, and you can configure the internal registers to determine the receiving channel through I2C interface. However, configuration mode is not required for normal operation.
To enter configuration mode, you need to connect both the SD/SCL and DO/SDA pins to the MCU, and it enters configuration mode after powering on. It can turn back to deep sleep mode by setting the CFOMSD = 1.
The sequence diagram of entering/exiting the configuration mode is as follows:
Pairing with a transmitter module
Referring to the video as follows, we use the transmitter module, BCM-2102-X10, to pair with the product.
[Required Materials]
(You can also use the breakout board of the module, BCT-2502-001, with the development board, BCE-GENTrx8-001 for functionality evaluation.)
[Pairing Steps]
Timeline 0:00~0:04 If the TX and RX modules haven’t been paired before, LED1~3 on the BCE-GENTrx8-A01 (RX) board will keep blinking after powering on.
Timeline 0:05~0:09 Long press KEY1 on the BCE-GENTrx8-A01 (RX) to enter pairing mode.
After entering pairing mode, the LED1 on the BCE-GENTrx8-A01 (RX) will keep blinking.
Timeline 0:10~0:17 Press any button on the BCE-GENTrx8-A01 (TX) to start pairing. If LED1 on the BCE-GENTrx8-A01 (RX) stops blinking, it means that the pairing succeeded. You can then start the evaluation.
Timeline 0:18~0:35 Powering off and on again does not require re-pairing; the modules will be ready to use.
